District Grad is New Face in FACS
There is someone cooking in the kitchen
That someone is Ms. Erica Parret, the new culinary teacher and one of the newest staff members at GHS.
“I am very excited since I have spent four years of my life working very hard to get to this point and really nervous because it was the first time I had my own class and my own students,” said Parret.
As a culinary teacher, she will be teaching many students how to cook the safe and correct way.
“Life skills are one of the most important lessons I want to teach my students because that is one of the reasons I went into family consumer science education, and they can use these skills when they go to college or work,” said Parret.
They say you can never go home again, but Ms. Parret did just that. She came back because “I knew a lot of great things about the district,” said Parret. “When I interviewed for the job, everyone was welcoming, and it was a very good fit for me.”
Parret was a former student here at GHS. She was a part of the 2011-2012 split and moved to Eisenhower her junior year.
“It’s nice to come back, but it’s different being a teacher now and not a student. But I couldn’t have asked for a better first teaching job,” said Parret.
As a former student, Ms. Parret might have the opportunity to see some of her former teachers that still teach at Goddard today. Although she did not have Mrs. Dimick as a teacher, Ms. Parret will be working right next door to her.
“It’s a little weird but cool because now she can help and mentor me as a teacher,” said Parret.
Ms. Parret is excited and happy that she gets to work next to Mrs. Dimick and excited to be here at GHS.
So when the sweet smell of pie or the savory smell of meats fills the hallways, everyone will know who is making it happen.
